Hello World!

This morning as I listened to my worship music on the way to work, I noticed that i kept switching to songs that only made me feel how I thought I was supposed to feel. For example, I kept switching to songs that played upbeat, happy, gratitude based songs. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks…..I was trying too hard.

I noticed that when I kept trying to feel God’s presence, the more frustrated with myself and further away from him I felt. Finally it clicked this morning and I threw my hands up. I began to pray, calling out to The Father and asking to feel his presence in his way. My answer came almost immediately.

A song came on that I quickly went to skip but something held me back. The next thing I knew, I was singing this song with my whole soul as tears ran down my face and my heart cried out in love, pain, and weariness. At that moment I felt God’s presence so close that my breath was caught in an instant.

The lesson I learned in this is, The Lord wants to know you, the real you. He already knows your heart so when you put on a front it will cause him to feel further. This does not mean that he leaves you, it simply means that you are putting up a wall to keep him at a distance when all he wants is for you put down your wall and come as you are.

I encourage you to go The Lord just as you are. Go to him when your heart is aching, when you’re sad, when you’re tired, it doesn’t matter because he already knows your heart and will open his arms for comfort, rest, love, and peace.
