Hello World!
Tonight my family and I watched The Polar Express which if you have never seen is a fantastic movie. As we all sat together my mind kept going back to the thought of “Christmas is about the birth of Jesus. Why am I watching a movie about Santa?” Then out of nowhere, a part of the movie spoke to me in a way I did not expect.
“Seeing is believing.” These are the words the main character is told at the beginning of the movie. However, as he continues on his journey of belief in Santa, he is told, ” Believing is seeing.” This resonated with me in many ways when it comes to the beginning of my journey in following Jesus, and the journey I see others around me taking.
As they say, “Believing is seeing.” You may not always see The Lord in a way that you see me or you, but that does not mean he doesn’t exist or isn’t there. Seeing him grows as you grow in your faith. In many ways, unless he chooses differently, you will see him by seeing his work in the world around you. You will see him because only he will make things happen in such a perfect manner that you never could imagine. Seeing him comes in believing.
Another line the main character is told is “Seeing is believing but sometimes the most real things in life are the things we can’t see.” This is true for our belief in Jesus. He is the most real thing we have and yet, unless he chooses differently, we see him by the work around us and by feeling his presence. We feel him close as he never leaves us. We feel him because we have the Holy Spirit alive in us. We feel him because we have accepted him as our Lord and Savior. We believe because we feel his presence. We see because we believe. This allows us to know he is real. We believe in his word and we know in our hearts that we see him day in and day out because believing is seeing.
